This is a translation of the French version. The French version prevails for legal purposes: voir la version française.
This policy explains what personal information is collected on this site, why, where it is stored, and what your rights are. It is written in plain language, as the law requires.
Who is responsible
Jonathan Chauvette Inc.
Terrebonne, Quebec, Canada
The person responsible for the protection of personal information is Jonathan Chauvette, President. You can reach him at media@jonathanchauvette.com for any question, access request or complaint.
Applicable law
Jonathan Chauvette Inc. is subject to Quebec's Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector (CQLR, c. P-39.1), as amended by Law 25.
What is collected
Through the contact form: your name, your email address, your company name, your website address if you provide it, and the content of your message.
Through browsing: anonymous, aggregated traffic statistics (page views, referrer, device type). This data cannot identify you and is not retained in individual form beyond 24 hours.
Nothing else is collected. No data is purchased or enriched from third parties.
Cookies
This site uses no cookies. The analytics tool in use, Vercel Web Analytics, identifies visits through a temporary technical hash rather than a cookie, and that hash is discarded after 24 hours. There is no advertising tracking, no profiling, and no cross-site tracking.
Why this information is used
- To respond to your message and continue the conversation
- To assess whether an engagement makes sense for both sides
- To measure site traffic in aggregate
Your information is never sold, rented or traded. It is not used for any other purpose without your consent.
Where it is stored, and transfers outside Quebec
The following providers process or host information and are located outside Quebec, primarily in the United States:
- Formspree — receiving and delivering form messages
- Vercel — site hosting and traffic statistics
- Google Fonts — serving typefaces, which transmits your IP address
- Substack — only if you choose to subscribe to the newsletter, under their own policy
A privacy impact assessment was carried out before selecting these providers. Given the limited nature of the information involved, these transfers are considered adequate under the Act.
How long it is kept
Messages received through the form and the exchanges that follow are kept for 24 months after the last contact, then deleted. Information tied to a current or completed engagement is kept as long as applicable tax and legal obligations require.
How it is protected
Access is limited to Jonathan Chauvette. Communications with the site are encrypted. Provider accounts are protected with two-factor authentication.
No method of Internet transmission is 100% secure. In the event of a confidentiality incident presenting a risk of serious injury, affected individuals and the Commission d'accès à l'information will be notified promptly, and an incident register is maintained as required by law.
Your rights
- Access the personal information held about you
- Have it corrected if inaccurate or incomplete
- Withdraw your consent and request deletion
- Receive your information in a structured technological format
- File a complaint with the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec
To exercise any of these rights, write to media@jonathanchauvette.com. You will receive a response within 30 days.
